Bunkai (分解)
Bunkai (分解), literally meaning “analysis” or “disassembly”, is a term used in Japanese martial arts referring to the process of analyzing kata and extracting fighting techniques from the movements of a ‘form’.
In many cases this translates into developing a working technique out of a complex kata.
For us, it means developing real security from complex requirements and standards. Helping our client navigate the world of complex security compliance.

The Journey of Bunkai: Mastering the Art of IoT and OT Security
In IoT and OT cybersecurity, businesses must balance innovation with compliance and security. At Bunkai, we firmly believe that robust security is an investment that safeguards your future. That’s why we focus on simplifying the complex—automating security tests and streamlining compliance to minimize effort while maximizing protection.

SevenShift was founded in 2017 in Cologne, Germany; with the vision of enhancing security in the rapidly growing IoT and OT sectors. The company has grown steadily by focusing on practical, high-quality solutions. Its main clients include telecommunications providers like Vodafone and Telekom, IoT vendors and integrators, certification labs, and security consultancies.
The company’s work spans three core areas: testing and pen-testing, security-by-design and consulting, and professional training. In November 2018, SevenShift launched the IoT Security Bootcamp to address the growing demand for specialized knowledge in IoT security. A year later, the team expanded its training offerings with a class on OT Security: Assessing and Exploiting ICS and IIoT, sharing their expertise on the unique challenges of securing operational technologies.
SevenShift’s project portfolio reflects the diversity of the IoT landscape, ranging from consumer devices like pet trackers to industrial applications such as sensors and smart parking systems. This broad experience has allowed the company to develop a comprehensive understanding of the security challenges faced by IoT and OT ecosystems, making SevenShift a trusted partner in navigating the complex world of connected technologies.
